Welcome to Science and Faith!
Sir Humphrey Davy, lecturer & first Director of Royal Institution of Great Britain: “Nothing is so fatal to the progress of the human mind as to suppose that our views of science are ultimate; that there are no mysteries in nature; that our triumphs complete; and that there are no new worlds to conquer.”
[Quoted by Brian Cox in A night with the stars BBC2 December 2011]
“All truth is God’s truth” – so have written many theologians, back to Thomas Aquinas. It is also my view; this means taking seriously ‘truth’ from different disciplines. For scientists it means not being so high handed as to think you have a monopoly on valid truth. For people of faith it means not ignoring plain facts because they seem to contradict your interpretation of the Bible.
