Those who say that all religions are the same love to quote the parable of the discovery of the elephant. They say that one group found the trunk and concluded it was a snake, another group the leg and concluded it was very sturdy, and so on, but actually they had all found parts of the same thing. This analogy might work for an animal but can you see from the earlier survey of faiths why is it wholly inadequate to describe the range of religions in the world?

3 When I was a church leader in Southall I had in my congregation a number of Asian Christians. Some had been part of Christian families for 3-4 generations but others had converted from Islam, Hinduism or Sikhism. An Iranian man spoke of being given a Bible in his home country; he said, “The Qu’ran is a good book but when I read the Bible I said, ‘This is a true book’”. If all religions are the same, how do you explain the personal experience of those who have found something new and deeper in Jesus?

Wycliffe Bible Translators aims to go to every distinct people group and begin translation work with them by 2025. Watch a video presentation about this at The 2025 Vision.

Consider this as a group – physically going to live in inaccessible places for many years, raising their own finance, often producing the first written script in a language. Isn’t that commitment? What is their motivation?
