Day 7 Friday 27 September
When we are on mission we follow a set of Bible study notes, this year prepared by John Hibberd. In our reading today we looked at Peter and the time when Jesus asked him 3 times 'Do you love me?'. John reminded us that that the key issue for us to see is how Jesus restored a man who'd messed up.
On mission we see many who's lives are messed up (not least our own sometimes!) and the chance to be able to tell them that there is a way out through Jesus is a wonderful thing.
Daniel spoke to a large crowd at the Lowenac Hotel in Camborne last night and, as we find each night, some responded and received Christ into their lives for the first time. Praise God.
However it's not always an easy ride. John Hibberd had a rough time at any questions session where he was challenged on a particular issue; mostly from Christians. Whereas issues are important for us to discuss and debate and it is understandable that we hold different views, it sometimes seems we forget that the important thing is Jesus and as a consequence our disagreements put people off.
We are aware of one team that is struggling within the parameters set by the local church leaders to feel effective in mission. Please pray for them as they never the less seek to honour their calling and bring the gospel to as many as they are able.
The pastoral situation I mentioned yesterday is much improved. Thank you for your support in prayer. Your prayers are being answered. Please don't stop.
Other teams continue to submit good reports. No specific stories to pass on but I will add more as they come in.
