We are a member of the Evangelical Alliance, the largest body serving evangelical Christians in the UK: working for a united Church, confident in voice and inspired for mission, www.eauk.org. We subscribe to the Evangelical Alliance basis of faith.

So what's next?

The Great Commission is not limited geographically (except to this planet, as far as we know!) nor by time nor by generation. We have the duty – and joy – of making known the good news of Jesus wherever we have the opportunity. In this sense, Christian work is never finished, as the bishop warned me just before I was to be ordained! It isn’t neat and tidy, like a ‘month end’ in sales and marketing or a term or a year in education. You might complete one ‘project’ but there will always be something new to tackle after it.

So I want to say a personal ‘thank you’ to those who took time to join us in or, equally crucially, prayed each day for the mission. You have made a difference in the advancement of God’s Kingdom, even if we might not be able to perceive all that this means until the day when Jesus returns and brings the fullness of God’s perfect rule. The challenge now is to ask: what next? Could you join us in Essex and Suffolk next year for the mission there in May? The Mission Preparers are already at work, many of them having juggled this with Walk Cornwall 2, and they are seeing a good uptake from local churches; indeed the mission is still growing, as I have seen in emails in the past week. Or could you join us on another mission? Or make a special commitment to pray daily for one or more of these events when they take place? The work goes on … and so does your part in it. Jesus is our pattern for a life of service: ‘For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many’ (Mark 10:45).
