The Society of Contemporary Evangelists

Do you feel called to evangelism?

Do you need further training?

Have you considered … The Society of Contemporary Evangelists?

Set up by Through Faith Missions in 2002, it is what it says:

A Society.

We have seen the value of working in teams on TFM missions. It’s the biblical pattern! SCE is a fellowship of people who support each other and work together.

Contemporary.

Evangelism cannot stand still. To engage with our culture, we introduce students to cutting edge practitioners.

Evangelists.

“Evangelists trained by evangelists” is our motto. SCE is interwoven with our mission work and staffed with people who do evangelism, not just talk about it.

SCE students
The course is pitched at Certificate level (first year of university). This means it gives a credible standard of teaching but is also accessible to a wide range of abilities. Students study 4 modules from the well-respected St John’s Nottingham Extension Studies course, covering Old & New Testament, evangelism theory and ministry and mission in the local church. Alongside this they develop a portfolio demonstrating their practical ability to do the work of an evangelist and one other unit from TFM.

Distance learning enables students to study at their own pace and from home. TFM provides a number of themed training weekends and a summer school within the course as well as numerous opportunities for evangelism on the missions that take place each year. Mentors and tutors provide further support. Over 100 people have taken part in SCE so far, coming from a wide range of denominations and all parts of the UK. We are not able to provide this training beyond the UK due to the residential elements of the course.
