Creation and evolution : Questions / notes for groups

 

1 Read again Genesis chapters 1 & 2, looking at them particularly with regard to the emergence of life. Consider how the 2 stories inter-relate. Which bits do you read literally or figuratively and why?
   
2 Attitudes to Darwinian evolution. Individually work out which of the following options best fits your view and then discuss the range of opinions as a group (you might need to re-visit the materials on ID & DNA):
   
 
a       Darwin’s theory tells us all we need to know; there is no God
b       Darwin’s theory explains how creation happened but I still believe in God is very much involved
c       Darwin made some good observations but it’s only an unproven theory
d       I’m undecided
e       I basically go with the biblical account but I can see there are some problems, e.g. timescale
f        I believe in a literal 7-day creation and a young Earth
g       Some other view entirely
