Prayer Support

TFM has a “secret weapon” – our Supporters.  Over the years we have gathered a group of people who pray for our work, many of them daily but many others  praying particularly when missions take place.  We call these Prayer Partner teams.  We would love you to join us in this task.

Many years ago John Hibberd, evangelist and a former leader of TFM, wrote a manual for use in mission preparation called “Prayer, the hidden face of evangelism”.  It was based on a conviction shared among evangelists that prayer is essential in the task of sharing the gospel, opening doors and hearts in a way that eloquence, organisation or even sheer force of character can never hope to achieve.

Evangelism is a spiritual task and it requires spiritual means to prosper. In all of our missions we work hard to encourage local churches to make prayer a central part of their preparations.  For all sorts of reasons the demise of “the prayer meeting” in churches across our nation means that this isn’t always easy, but it is essential.  We try to help individual Christians and whole churches to be imaginative and persistent in prayer.

One thing is certain: when you go to a mission you can tell very quickly whether it has been prayed for.  As someone once wrote, “No prayer, no power; some prayer, some power; much prayer, much power.”

Developing Prayer Partnerships for Mission

Although we have always called people to pray for specific missions, during recent years we have expanded this by establishing Prayer Partner teams - groups of people specifically tasked to pray for a mission with a Team leader who is in contact regularly with the Mission Team to get updates for targeted prayers.  We understand prayer to be a spiritual ‘battle’ and we take it seriously.
