Love Littleport - Sat 4 - Sun 12 Oct 2025

 
Littleport is a rapidly expanding town in the Cambridgeshire Fens just north of the historic small city of Ely.   Here the Hope Brothers once manufactured the England football kit and our skaters would beat European rivals on frozen fields. Today we see race-winning Cambridge University boat crews practising their strokes on the River Great Ouse. We have the lowest-altitude Park Run in the country (and a Vicar who regularly runs) and an iconic Harley-Davidson memorial on our central green. Curious?
 
For many years our prayer has been to share the hope we have in Jesus with the whole town. We have invited TFM to join us! Dan Holland spoke powerfully of Christ at the launch service on 4th May. Our aim in this season of mission is to Love Littleport!
 
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us (1 John 3.16).
We love because he first loved us (1 John 4.19).
 
There are many needs in Littleport, social and spiritual. The churches here are gutsy, frontline mission communities. Every month on the third Monday thirty or forty of us from Churches Together meet together to pray and share testimony. We are prayer-walking the town and its boundaries. The programme for the mission week itself includes visiting all the schools and care homes, many coffee mornings, classic TFM door-to-door and time in local pubs and clubs. We are planning to reach particular groups with special events – an international feast, film and discussion for young people, ‘Jesus: the evidence’ for sceptic friends, men’s and ladies’ events. A singer from Ireland is giving an evangelistic concert in a public hall in the centre of town. We are looking forward to an all-age fun day (with weightlifting evangelists) and harvest thanksgiving services on the final weekend.
 
We are joining together as Christian people across the town and beyond. Do pray for us and, if the Lord calls you, come and be a team member alongside us!
