Peterborough mission day
A report from David Pickavance, TFM Team Leader for the Peterborough outreach day on Saturday 17 May202.
In the morning, we followed the plan of prayers, litter pick (in the local park and surrounds) and street evangelism with both TFM and members of St Paul’s. We used the streets at both sides of St Paul’s and also tried going over to the shopping area next to Bourges Boulevard. However, there were very few people out and they were very reluctant to engage. Consequently, we had a thin time as reported when you called at lunchtime.
Therefore, after a fabulous lunch provided by St Paul’s, we decided to go into the church grounds for outdoor prayer and praise, which both got our spirits back on track and got the attention of passers-by. There were then a few visitors that had responded to Val’s publicity and Rachel’s puppets and Robert’s balloons were put to good use while most of us went back on the streets.
The afternoon was far more productive than the morning, although still rather quiet for some. From both the morning and afternoon, we had positive conversations with, and in many cases prayed with and gave KGPs (Knowing God Personally tracts)to a good number of people. There is a possibility that some of them might visit St Paul’s and we can continue to pray for them. Therefore, the day was far from unproductive and we certainly provided a presence for Jesus. Sadly, we missed one of our team due to family matters.
I must once more thank St Paul’s for their fantastic hospitality, both in joining us in our work for our Lord, and looking after us so well. And clearly, I must thank the TFMers for their commitment, teamwork, and Christian spirit. It was a joy to be part of the team.
