 A Weekend in Basingstoke 23-25 May 2025

Team Leader, Ross Healey, reports on this weekend mission.

Invitations were sent to TFMers living in or near Basingstoke and a great response meant that we had a good-sized team.   All four of our partner churches were involved again.

A new weekend format and a new time of year for the mission (we have usually been in Sept time).  Lots of other new things as well - a new combined worship band in the centre of Basingstoke, new street preachers/story tellers and offering prayers for healing.  New locations for street work and a greatly expanded outreach in Basingstoke in the evening.

Gospel services with (delicious!) breakfast and lunch at two of our churches, TFMers speaking or contributing at three services.  Many local church members joined us throughout the weekend.

Lots of responses and connections made with people.  Many lengthy and thoughtful conversations.  Many of the new initiatives worked well - prayer and thought needed about how to fine tune for the future.  A great sense of fellowship and shared purpose between the TFM team, the local evangelist team, the church members and church leaders - the fruit, surely, of a long-term relationship with Basingstoke.

There is much to give thanks for and we give our hearty thanks and praise to the Lord of the Harvest who blesses us, builds us up and sends us out into His harvest field.  The good seed of the gospel went out and we pray it will take root in good soil.  Praise God.

NB We hear that the newest generation seems to be more open to discussion about faith, our experience this weekend is that this is true.
