Jon Serving at CCiW Purple Camp 25th Jul - 1st Aug
There are many, many camps, festivals and conferences aimed at all ages, including young people which run through the summer, all of which need our prayer both for the organisers and leaders, not to mention the young people themselves. Young Christians are our next generation of church leaders, teachers, evangelists, missionaries and youth workers! We need to invest practically and in prayer!
Jon has served on Christian Camps in Wales for a number of years as a tent leader looking after young people, and lately on the maintenance team. Jon has taken both his children (starting at 10 years old, now 25) and they both have also served regularly.
CCiW is a Christian outdoor activity camp which runs (mostly under canvas) for ages 11-17yrs - see the link for more info. The young people have a busy schedule, centred around God's word, both evangelistic and teaching based. They come from across the country, and although usually from a church background, there is a mixture of those who are committed to Jesus as Lord, and those who have not arrived there yet. It is an activity camp, highly physical, with many outdoor activities - rock climbing, paddle boarding, gorge walking, and an afternoon spent doing a choice of 'outdoor' (or underground) activity. In addition, there are many games and activities on the field where the camp is held. Rain is extremely likely at points during the week, it being in North Wales, near Cader Idris.

This year there were 84 young people, with 160 on site. This included 'mini campers' (children of leaders), catering team, maintenance team and tent leaders.
Praise the Lord for souls saved, and equally praise the Lord for those built up in their faith, strengthened by the peer group fellowship and prayer, as well as the preaching / led bible studies. Frequently friendships which are made are for life!
It always such an encouragement to serve the young people - also extremely encouraging that many young people who first came at 10-11yrs old are now themselves serving as leaders on the same camp.
Lastly, but no means least, the food is amazing! Creation of a full Sunday roast (among many other meals) from a kitchen tent is no small feat.
