What about other faiths?
For the vast majority of the history of human beings the search for meaning and for God or gods has been a universal trait. Atheism, agnosticism and sheer indifference to God are modern phenomena. Secularists might claim they are humanity ‘coming of age’ but those of many different faiths might equally claim that secularism has not resulted in better, fairer or more compassionate societies.
Christians are often considered arrogant for saying that salvation is found only in Jesus. Again this tends to be the view of the humanist who wants to create a ‘lowest common denominator’ approach. I have found that people of other faiths recognise that genuine differences exist and form the basis for dialogue.
There is space here to examine the basis for the Christian view that Jesus offers something not found in any other faith.
